Transformers 2

Maybe I’m getting old and I don’t get excited by shiny action films anymore or maybe, *gasp* Transformers 2 is actually mediocre.

Here’s how I would sum up the movie:

  • Vomit inducing 360’s with the camera

This technique is used over and over again to jazz up some scenes and make them more epic when there are people / robots talking about the non-existant plot, getting romantic, or just plain standing around and blending in with the scenery.
  • Explosions! Explosions! Explosion!

Hey maybe people won’t notice the extremely bad editing or massive holes in the plot if we fill them with million dollar explosions!
  • Lots of shiny robots

While these robots are cool and pretty to look at, it’s sort of annoying that you don’t get to know them at all. The twin robots are a good comic relief but who are they? Like the other new robots, you never really get to know their story just that they fight Decepticons. Disappointing for me who enjoyed the relationships from the first movie  (Decepticon and Autobot)
  • Slow motion

Doing things in slow motion make them more epic, especially when associated with EXPLOSIONS, SHINY ROBOTS, EXPLOSIONS, and ROBOT SOUNDS.

Bleh. I hate it when a perfectly good movie (Transformers) gets tainted by its sequel which could have been awesome is more money was given to the writers and less to the special effects (EXPLOSIONS).
